[EVENT] Global WOW Korea | I Definitely Want to Visit Korea because....

"It's better to see it once rather than heard it a million times." Korea is my imagination but I want this imagination to be real that's why I will definitely want to visit and see Korea as possible.

There are many reasons why I love to travel and see the beauty of  what the world may bring to us. I deeply in love with Korea and it's one of the best reason that I got inspired to wrote my travel getaways. I was really amazed how beautiful Korea is. 

South Korea is on my first wish list to visit if I had given the chance. You want to know why?

Korea has it's own unique diversity.When it comes to it's beautiful places, Korea has a natural beauty. There are places that you can experience the traditional village from Joseon dynasty and traced the Korean thousand years of history. Though there is a place that holds sadness over division of Korea there is also a place that you can spend the peaceful time inside nature gifted territory. Korea, a city that embrace the future, a town behind modern times and a street that lights up of it's people.

When it comes to their rich culture, I am eagerly to learn more about it and tell the world how much they value their traditions. One of the things that I need to do if I have given the chance to visit Korea is to wear their traditional Korean costume, the Hanbok which I have seen it in many historical Korean dramas and movies. I can see the vibrant color and how graceful it is. What about staying in a Hanok Village? Yes, I definitely want to experience the past lifestyle of  Korea.And what about traditional Korean food? Oh well....who doesn't want food,right? Korea has it's own style of table setting which make you drooling. Many delicious foods are there in the table. Korea was known to be the land of Kimchi-licious.

This are the reasons why I love Korea. And it's my dream to set a footsteps in the Land of Morning Calm. I haven't been there but nothing is impossible, I will do my best and make this wish come true.

Beat the Summer Heat in Vivaldi Park Ocean World

Vivaldi Park Ocean World is located within Vivaldi Park which is known for skiing.It was an Egypt theme water park. It was created to experience cool and refreshing swim in oasis in the middle of dessert.

It has aqua pool and wave pool. The outdoor water park was for fun of tube rafting, 45 degree high-speed of water slide and many more.

The outdoor extreme zone which give the high waves and the strong current for thrilling.

They also offer duck boats and row boats. And also they have other facilities for relaxation like sauna and spa.

A Korean Taste Near Me

Korea is a thousand miles away from me. I'm longing to go in this country because Korea inspired me a lot. It was my first reason that I started this blog site because of Korea.

Outside or inside South Korea has a lot to offer. They have many beautiful tourists spot to visit and many Korean cuisines to taste. Being far away into this country is not a reason or stopping me to taste their food delicacies. Yes, I found them in grocery stores and in convenient stores.

Here are some of the food and snacks that I spotted.

A 한국 떡볶이 or a Korean sticky rice cake that was cooked in spicy sauce. Maybe someday I will cook this but I need to learn first the steps on how to cook this. You can find this food in many Korean streets.

This is very well known not only in Korea but also in many different countries across Korea. KIMCHI 김치 represent any Korean table.

Korean Noodles (라면) they are becoming popular especially kimchi flavors.

This is very special delicacy from Jeju, the Jeju Dried Radish Slices Kimchi

Well I enjoyed a lot of this Korean products. I can't wait to go in Korea to taste the real Korean cuisines.. I'm hoping it next year...

Korean Names : Who's Not Curios?

I am really curios about Korean names. It was because sometimes it's hard to know who is he or she and Korean people have almost the same names especially when it comes to their family name.

Well, let's figure it out...

Generally, Korean names were composed of three syllables. If it was written in Korea, family name goes first before the given name unlike Western and some Asian countries it was opposite where family name comes at the end.

Example

Lee Minho is a South Korean singer-actor who is very popular not only Asian countries but also to Western countries. This name, Lee is a family name and Min Ho is the given name. And for those who are not familiar in Korean names like me, there are no middle name included in their real name. And another point of difference is that same name is rarely passed down from one generation to other generation.

Most Korean family names are only one syllable. Most common family names are Lee, Park, Kim, and Choi. And there are 250 Korean family names approximately. There are also family names that are in two syllables but it was rarely.

It is said to be that Korean names has it's own meaning. But most of it was based on Chinese characters. But it said that in recent years more and more Korean people are opting to Hangeul names. Chinese symbol have own meaning and Korean names  have deep significance. And now many of them used Hangeul names with deep meaning.

Example

Many of Korean parents are trying to give a good name to their children in order for them to live a joyous, healthy and successful in their life. And it was because parents believe that their child fortune was determined by their names.

The National Symbols Of South Korea

In getting to know with other countries, firstly I simply look and read for their national symbols because this is how we differentiate nation to other nation,right?

Every symbols has it's own meaning and from it's own meaning, we start to know more about the country. I do remember when I'm in my Junior High. We usually memorized all the Asian countries in one of our subject. We memorized them not only the names but with also their capital and currencies names.

For this time I want you to know the National Symbols of South Korean.

The Korean Flag is called "Taekgeukgi" in Korean language.

> It's designed symbolizes the principle of Yin and Yang in oriental philosophy.

> The circle in the center of the Korean flag is divided into two
1. The upper red section represent the proactive cosmic of the yang.
2. Conversely, the blue section represent the responsive cosmic of the yin.

>The two forces together embody the concepts of continual movement, balance and harmony that characterize the sphere of infinity.
>The circle was surrounded by four trigrams, one in each corner. Each trigrams represent the four universal elements: heaven (), earth (), fire  (), and water () .

The National Flower of South Korea is called "Mugunhwa", the rose of sharon. Every year from July to October, a profusion of mugunhwa blossoms graces the entire country. Mugunhwa is remarkably tenacious and able to withstand both blight and insects unlike many other flowers. The flowers symbolic significance stems from the Korean word "mugung" which means "immortality". This word accurately reflects the enduring nature of the Korean culture, and the determination and perseverance of the Korean people.

In Philippines they call this as "Gumamela". And in Taiwan the word "hwa" means flower. This flower has many variety of colors. There are also single and double petals and there are small and big petals.

he National Anthem of Korea is "Aegukga", which means "Love of the Country".

In 1896, the Dongnip Sinmun (Independence News) published various versions of lyrics for this song. It is not known exactly what music they were sung to in the early days. Records show that a Western-style military band was formed during the time of the Dae-han Empire (1897-1910) and that the "Dae-han Empire Aegukga" was composed in 1902 and played at important national functions.

The original words of Aegukga appeared in written form around 1907 to inculcate allegiance to the nation and foster the spirit of independence as the country faced threats of foreign annexation. Over the years, the lyrics went through several versions until they were adopted as the national anthem in the present form in 1948.

Before the birth of the Republic in 1948, the words were often sung to the tune of the Scottish folk song, Auld Lang Syne. Maestro Ahn Eak-tay (1905-1965), then living in Spain, felt that it was inappropriate to sing this patriotic song to the tune of another country's folk song. So, he composed new music to go with the lyrics in 1935, and the Korean Provisional Government in exile adopted it as the national anthem. While Koreans outside the country sang the anthem to the new tune, those at home continued to use Auld Lang Syne until Korea was liberated in 1945.

In 1948 the government of the Republic of Korea officially adopted the new version as the national anthem and began to use it at all schools and official functions.

Review: Nongshim Onion Ring 양파 링 for My Midnight Snack

Annyeong Haseyo!!! It's been a long while since my last post. And now, I'm back and here is my first post for this year..it was just something to eat^^

Actually I'm planning to post this last year but due to my hectic schedule I just managed to draft some part of it. My sister bought this snack while we are doing a last minute of Christmas shopping. My sister said this onion ring taste good but I did not look for it because I was more interested looking at beauty products that time. I just heard her whispering this is delicious..

At night, while I'm in front of my lop top and getting bored I started looking for something and there I found this junk food. While opening I just then realized it was a product of Korea. I paused for awhile to read the package. It was Onion Rings Hot Flavor with Net Wt. of 70g (2.47oz). Nongshim is a Korean brand and probably they are known for manufacturing noodles as well as snack food including this Onion Ring. Nongshim was a member of Snack Food Association (SFA), An International Trade Association.

The ingredients of this product was wheat flour, wheat starch, tapioca starch, potato powder, sugar,salt, dextrin riboflavin,onion powder,palm oil, bran oil, powder and chili flavor. But sorry to tell you guys I can't post the Nutrition Facts because I can't read the characters..really sorry for that. But honestly this onion ring was taste better than those I tasted before because this is not too salty and it has sweetness though it was hot flavor. It was just it suit to my taste buds..hehe, I ate it accompanied by milk tea with sago. 

Well, I know guys you have this habit while you are in front of your television or computers especially when you were with your bunch of friends..Crunching snack anytime..hehe..

I just honestly wrote there that I did not yet experience going Korea but I really really want to. I just shared a getaway of my one closest friend here in Taiwan and I said that I want to experience all of what she experienced while getting around in Korea.

Nature Trip at Jecheon Uirimji Reservoir 제천 의림지와 제림

Annyeong Haseyo.. Here I am again sharing a nature adventure but I'm sorry to tell you guys this  wasn't my adventure. It was someone I know whom this adventure belongs. But that's not a problem as long as I have permission for featuring their adventure or trips,etc. and it was also credited to them.

About this Uirimji Reservoir
Uirimji 의림지was originally called "Yimji", a reservoir that was created during the Samhan Era, it was already a hundred of hundred years ago. It was one of the most famous reservoir in Chungcheong-do a.k.a Hoseo region because of it's deep-seated history. It was designated as Monument No. 11 in Chungcheongbuk-do.This reservoir was the main tourists attraction in Jecheon region. It was also a valuable historical site for studying farming methods long time ago.

This reservoir was located in Jecheon 제천, a city in northern part Chungcheongbuk-do, a province in South Korea. It was well known for it's beautiful mountains and lake environments. Jecheon was also gaining popularity because it was well known for shooting location for Korean dramas and movies.

This reservoir was 1.8 km in circumference and 151,470m2 in water surface area and has a water level of 8-13m. It was the source water of farmland for  about 289.4 jeongbos.

Around the area, it has the Yeonghojeong Pavillion, which was built in 1807 in the 7th year of King Sunjo and also the Gyeonghuro Pavillion, which was built in 1948.

The traditional beauty of this place and structures was accented by ancient pine and willow trees. And also the 30 m high waterfall.

Nearby attractions was Pine Field Park, National Archery and Parkland.

Nature is the best healing for body and soul and because of the tranquility of the place you will find peace of mind, right?When you want to get relax do it with the accompany of nature and you will regain all your energy,

The National Folk Museum of Korea

National Folk Museum of Korea (국립민속박물관 : Gungnip Minsok Bangmulgwan)  is a national museum of South Korea located in the grounds in the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It uses replicas of historical objects that depicts the historical backgrounds or the traditional life of Korean people.

About the History 
This museum was established on November 8, 1945 by the U.S government and it was opened on April 25, 1946 at the City of Administration Memorial Hall. When the this museum merged in Natioanal Museum of Korea, it has a collection of 4,555 artifacts which was moved to the latter of Mt. Namsan sites.

In 1975, the museum was moved to the grounds of Gyeongbukgong Palace, moved along with it into the Modern Art Museum Building. In 1993 it opened in its present site, which was the former site of the National Museum of Korea. The building's design is based on various historical buildings around South Korea.

The museum has three main exhibition halls, with over 98,000 artifacts: 

History of Korean People features materials of everyday life in Korea from prehistoric times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty in 1910; 

Korean Way of Life, which illustrates Korean villagers in ancient times; and 

Life Cycle of the Koreans, which depicts the deep roots of Confucianism in Korean culture and how this ideology gave rise to most of the culture's customs.

The museum also features open-air exhibits, such as replicas of spirit posts where villagers used to pray, stone piles for worship, grinding mills, rice storage shelters and pits for kimchi pots.

South Korea has it's own unique traditional architectures that makes us mind blowing. The designs of the temples and their old palaces are great. It was like you where going to experience the Joseon era which I've seen in many Korean Dramas.
